About ELVIN

(In a Byrnean Voice) How did he get here...

Having lived in the Caribbean almost all his life, Elvin Orta got a taste of New England while studying Music Production & Engineering at Berklee College of Music, starting his formal audio education at the tender age of 16. After falling in love with the city of Boston and the New England region, he kept them close to his heart after returning to a successful audio engineering career in his native Puerto Rico. But life has a way of bringing things full circle.

After more than twenty-seven years working at different recording studios, as well as with creative minds and the best up-and-coming advertising agencies back home, a new opportunity took him back to the Northeast—specifically to Bristol and Anderson Productions, and a lot of post work for ESPN International, as well as plenty of documentaries for E60, the network's prestigious investigative arm.

He even earned an Emmy while working in a piece called "The Squad." An Emmy nomination also was issued for another E60 the same year.

After Anderson, there was no other choice: Elvin would start on his own, and his venture might include your story.

Elvin’s work philosophy is simple: efficiency, quality and reliability. Plus never saying “It can’t be done!”

You always have to give it a try!

Whether doing short promos, sound design or long-form pieces (including the six Christmas specials he worked on for Puerto Rico banking giant Banco Popular), Elvin still loves post-production work after all these years (he has been working non-stop since 1988!)

In addition, Elvin has composed, arranged and produced music for clients such as KFC, Pizza Hut,

Don Q Rums (Serrallés Distillery), Gerber and Borden.

His CV also includes a two-year stint as a college professor at Inter American University back on the island and occasional live music performances with a devotional and world-music group called The Bhakti Project. He produced an album for singer Gaurangi Devi Dasi

—a project that allowed Elvin to become involved in all stages of the production, from songwriting to musical arranging and even handling the album’s photography.

As with everything one does, there is something to be learned from everything you do.

And Elvin… well, he is still learning!

Elvin's Philosophy

"Trying to live in the intersection of quick, good and not too expensive. The code word is efficiency. You and I will have

time to spare because of it. "

About The Gear

"To me it's mostly a means to an end. What takes me there quickly. I am a fan of working in the box. I've used tape. I would like to leave it back there."
